It Does Not Define ME!

How was my week?
My week was pretty good all around. I saw lots of fresh veggies and fruit arrive in my home again…really frustrating how we can allow ourselves to slide. So have been working on bringing the healthy habit I at one time worked so hard to change back again.
I have to tell you, last weekend we went to a winery…before I knew Leah was going to tell us no wine… and bought 3 bottle of really good wine. They sit unopened! *sigh* I am being strong, because I do enjoy a glass now and again and it does help me sleep better…just 4 ounces…that is all. Soda is a no biggie for me…do not like the stuff.
Onto the weigh-in…IMG_1802
Last weeks weight: 323.8
This weeks weight: 326.0
Weight Difference this week:  +2.2
Total weight loss: 36.4
I am OK with my week…not the results… but I will NOT allow the scale to define me…that number is NOT who I am and it will eventually get smaller and smaller. I am bloated…so I know this gain is a temporary one…TOM is here and I am thinking maybe 100 oz of water might be too much for me. I am going to dial it back to 80oz this week and see if I do better.
Over all I did what I should have done. I stayed in my calorie range, stayed away from processed foods and no soda, no alcohol and exercised at least 30 minutes a day.
This week I am kicking it up a lot more though…so be watching for that temp gain to be gone plus a lot more next week!

What will I do this week?
I will continue with what I started.
  1. Make attainable goals each week (adding to previous weeks when become part of my routine)
  2. Use my Body Bugg to track activity and steps
  3. Attend the Momavation “TV” show each Monday night(Sorry Hubs, will be to bed late on Mondays)
Bringing Healthy Home Highlights:
Tuesday I am in the garden gathering some spinach and beet greens for my lunch and conversation begins with my DS6…
  • DS: Mom…what are those?
  • Me: Those are beet greens.
  • DS: Can you eat them?
  • Me: Yes I like them in my salads
  • DS: So you can eat them raw then?
  • Me: yes they are very good raw.
  • DS: Can I have some?
  • Me: Sure, why don’t you cut some yourself, then go wash it and taste it
  • DS: ok….(after he washes and tastes the greens) Oh these are really good! I think I will have some more
Now I have tried to get him to taste these several times in the past and he ALWAYS has turned his nose up! What a difference in having him help me in the garden and allowing him to follow my example. Score for Mom and healthy habits!
Friday: My son and I…my 15 year old…have  a date afternoon and he just got paid and wanted to hit the local Good Will after our walk to see if they had any X-Box games, so we went and were walking around looking for stuff and I happened upon this……brand new in its original wrapper. It is only 3.99 so my son tells me I better get it…so I do. I have been hearing a lot about this guy and his exercise routines and saw for a few minutes the other day when Leah was live streaming it and love that type of movement…so I agreed I needed to get it. I had planned on doing it today..but woke with a wicked headache that has not really gone away. I am hoping tomorrow my head is better and I can get to a workout with this DVD.
Weekly Goals:
  • Photo Journal my food intake
  • Do at least 30 minutes activity…mix it up to stay motivated and not allow myself to get bored
  • Make sure I stretch first thing when I wake for 10 minutes to get the blood flowing and body limber
  • Drink 80 oz water daily
  • 7 – 8 fruits/ veggies a day
  • no soda or alcohol
  • strength train 3 times this week
How did I do on my Goals?
  1. Journaling…  5 out of 7 days
  2. 30 minutes of activity… 7 out of 7 days
  3. Stretch in the AM …4 out of 7 days
  4. 100 oz water …5 out of 7 days
  5. fruits/veggies …6 out of 7 days
  6. No soda …7 out of 7 days
  7. Strength train…2 out of 3 days

Having a positive attitude and picking yourself back up. I too had to scale back my water a little I was feeling sick from it. Good luck monday as the final 5 are chosen!!

I love the garden conversation. My kids ate so excited about the fruits and veggies we grow ourselves. It's like they are more connected with the food they eat and I love it.

Way to go! Love your attitude and not getting down when you hit a snag. This will benefit you so much in your journey, that's awesome!

I love the garden conversation you had with your son. I'm so excited for when my boy is old enough to help me out and to take in that kind of moment. Way to lead him by your example, he will only benefit from it!

Have a great week!

Sounds like you had a fairly good week! Don't let the gain bother you. I know my weight fluctuates +2 or -2 It's rather annoying sometimes!

It's amazing what our kids will eat based on what we eat. My little guy who's 4 loves salad! he even dips his salad into dressing like me.

I saw a blog once named "And their eyes were watching mom" That's the TRUTH!

Way to go!!!

Trish, You really are great! I wish I could be as positive as you a lot more than I try to be. Congrats on the taebo deal. Im still intimidated by taebo. Maybe one day I will try it out. For now Ill stick with walking, other workout dvds and zumba. Let me know how Billy works out for you, I may just suck it up and try it out myself.
