We had eye appts this morning and needed to leave early to get tot hem. My oldest wanted to go through the Golden Arches(ugh, why oh why!) for breakfast, which turned out to be a necessity as we got a late start to the day. You know what though…interesting thing and I am taking note of it. I had a parfait and sausage McMuffin, the McMuffin gave me a stomach ache, should have ordered another parfait instead, but here is the interesting part…it set me up to fail.
WHAT?! DO I seem happy about this? NO I do not BUT I am happy I have seen a light here. Follow me.
We were also planning to shop(not buy yet, just put hands on) a laptop for me. My very own computer I can have access to anytime, anywhere! YES!! So anyway we needed to stop fro lunch. I was all geared up and ready to make healthy choices…until(second fail coming) the vote was for a buffet! UGH I fail miserably at buffets…except the last time I went, so I was OK with it.
So the last time I was at a buffet I had a healthy protein packed breakfast…I set my self up for success…did you see what I had for breakfast!?!! Bad bad choice here on my part. I ate what I should not have ate on that Buffet bar…I learned it is so important to feed my body what it needs…especially in the morning…set it up to be a success!
The day was not a complete failure then…actually in the scope of what I am trying to do it was not a failure at all! Rather I have found an important key to my success…It is so important to not only feed my body a breakfast…BUT a healthy breakfast…protein packed to begin my day!

Pete Cohen really struck a cord with me when he said I need to feed my body what it needs and not what it wants. Love this post!
What a great revelation!! I think this is one reason I am so committed/attached/obsessed about my oatmeal for breakfast every day. It gives me a great start to the day and I am not ravenous by 10am like with other breakfast choices. I used to think I was just a creature of habit, but I like this thinking that it is setting me up for success for the rest of the day.
Thanks for sharing!
The day was a success if you learned these lessons and are better set to apply them the next time you are out. I am not a fan of McD's and am sure it would give me a headache/tummyache too. However these are real world situations and I am glad you are becoming better prepared to navigate them in the future.
You are 100% right in that a hearty breakfast is such a great way to help you make good choices the rest of the day.
But you did fine, and tomorrow is a new day - right? No worries - honestly!
