I started my day with an avocado…did I mention I LOVE avocados…to me they are natures candy…seriously!
A little later…more of at breakfast time around 9am I made a smoothie that came out more like ice cream! I was not disappointed. I used about a cup of almond milk, a frozen banana, a couple of teaspoons of freeze dried acai and about a cup of frozen strawberries!! O MY! What a treat!! I added some of the goji berry raw granola on top and it had such an awesome crunch. I loved it…the downside we are in the middle of a blizzard and eating ice cream tasted great though does not exactly appeal entirely to me today. We have a couple of feet of the snowy stuff and am hankering for something warm!
Lunch rolled around and I made a green salad with a fruit flair. I added(I know not the greatest of photos cannot see much, this is where the camera started acting up!) sliced yellow apple, pecans dried cranberries and there is actually a bit of zucchini and cucumber in there as well. A nice taste.
Later I had a cherry pie lara bar and yes indeed it was 100% raw…so I have learned to not just ASSUME something is raw by a company who makes some things raw…lesson learned…I had a glass of almond milk with my lara bar.
Dinner was yet another salad pretty much like dinner last night…almonds on it, tomato, cucumber, olives…sorta boring. I need help…any raw vegan readers out there that can offer some tips to help me make my way a little more variety the next 28 days I would greatly appreciate it…keep in mind I do not have a food dehydrator or a vita mix..only a regular standard blender and a small food processor.
So now it is YOUR turn…Have you ever tried the lara bars? If so what is YOUR favorite…and is it 100% raw?
I think I've had a Lara Bar or two in my day. I like that they are wholesome and that they are best eaten slowly in order to really enjoy them(unlike some bars that I can devour in nothing flat). That, and they are satisfying.
ReplyDeleteI think if you do a google search you might find some recipes to make homemade Lara-like bars.
Looking forward to following your raw journey!
Btw, I'm starting an 11 Week Raw Food Challenge tomorrow, so I'm right there with you, my friend! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI keep lara bars in the car for emergencies when I'm out and need to eat. My favorites are Coconut and Gingersnap (banana bread/nut one is good too)
