Taste Test Tuesday: Product Review: Barilla Pastas

I was given the opportunity to try some Whole Grain Pastas from Barilla. I enjoy whole grain pasta much better than “regular” so this was right up my alley.
I decided to experiment with a new dish…Pasta with Creamy Pumpkin Sauce. Very good! The whole grain spaghetti was full of taste, coked quickly and made a nice component to the pumpkin sauce.

To give the pasta true taste test I simply prepared it and then splashed a little olive oil and herbs over top to use as sides to a few dishes.
I then tried them side by side to my local store brand.  Unfortunately I could not tell the difference. I made them, then had Agent “K” place them on a plate side by side with the name of each under…I tasted and could NOT tell a difference…thought she had actually tried to fool me by putting same on 2 plates…but nope. The ingredient and nutritional labels stack equally as well.
So overall, for me in this tight economy I will stick to my store brand…money saved, especially when taste is not sacrificed is essential. Sorry Barilla.
