Taste Test Tuesday: PR Vita Tops

Back in late August, early September the UPS man beeped his horn and brought me a package….

It was from Katie over at CrierPR! I was so elated to see a sampler pack of Vita Tops! Thank you Katie!
I had previously tried 1, maybe 2 flavors but now this box held the following…
  • 4 Low Fat VitaBrownies
  • 2 Low Fat Chocolate Fig VitaTops
  • 2 Low Fat Banana Nut VitaTops
  • 2 Low Fat Double Chocolate Dream VitaTops
  • 2 Low Fat Deep Chocolate VitaTops
  • 2 Low Fat Fudgy Peanut Butter Chip VitaTops
  • 2 Low Fat Golden Corn VitaTops
  • 2 Low Fat CranBran VitaTops
  • 2 Low Fat AppleBerry VitaTops
  • 2 Low Fat MultiBran VitaTops
  • Low Fat BlueBran VitaTops
…none of which I had actually had!
Given the fact I am trying to lose weight it took me a little time to try all the different flavors. I will say I truly enjoyed all of them except the corn muffins. I do love corn muffins, these just seemed a bit on the dry side and I had the urge to slather them in lots of butter, but that would sort of defeat the purpose of having them in my humble opinion.
I decided to give special attention to my top 3 picks to focus in on them…gaze upon the goodness….

First up we have the Fudgy Peanut Butter Chip, it was by far, hands down, my favorite! I happen to be partial to peanut butter cups though and they CANNOT be around me or they just beg to jump in my mouth, so this was certainly a real treat and delight to me.

I LOVE the amount of fiber that is packed into each little gem and that no matter what, they all were 100 calories, now how easy is that to remember?

BUT what is in them? Has to be a science experiment of ingredients to get the calories so low, right?
Check out the ingredient list…

Ingredients
Water, whole wheat flour, organic evaporated cane juice, egg whites, peanut butter chips (palm kernel oil powder, partially defatted peanut flour, peanut butter [peanut butter milk, soy lecithin], salt), cocoa (processed with alkali), soy fiber, inulin, erythritol, dried honey, wheat gluten, leavening (potassium bicarbonate, sodium acid pyrophosphate), tricalcium phosphate, fruitrim (grapejuice, brown rice syrup), natural flavor, lecithin, sea salt, xanthan gum, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, folic acid, iron, biotin, zinc. CONTAINS EGG, PEANUTS, SOY, WHEAT
Not bad…at all!

My next favorite is the MultiBran Vita Top. Aside from chocolate(my all time favorite food group) this really was a favorite. It was just sweet enough, just chewy enough and I found myself really wishing there was more than just 2 of this flavor.

Can’t you just imagine yourself sinking your teeth into this guiltless piece of heaven? I can and plan on it!
Next up and the last of my top 3 picks from the box is the Chocolate Fig. I really thought despite being chocolate I would NOT like this at all and it came in 3rd over others I thought would beat it out hands down.
After trying the first Fig creation from Vita Top I decided to get a little creative with the second…    This is a parfait made with “cheesecake” yogurt(I add a box of sugar free, fat free instant cheesecake flavor pudding to a 32 oz container of plain fat free yogurt and mix it up) layered with half the Chocolate Fig Top, another layer of yogurt and topped with the remaining Vita Top. All I have to say is my mouth is watering remembering the awesome flavor this was and really wanting my order to come today!

The entire time my kids were begging, even on their hands and knees to try these Vita Tops. Even with me clamoring the health benefits(that usually gets them) did not dismay the hammering of “can I have one?”
What’s a Mom to do? I allowed them the brownie Tops. 1 each as well all tried them together.
What did we think of the Vita Brownies? Well check it out for yourself here.

I really love the nutritional value and ingredient list in the muffin tops. I am ready to try another product from their company…now just to decide what!?

Final thought…Would I buy them again? ABSOLUTELY! Would I share them with the rest of the family? Reluctantly so. :)

For full disclosure, I did no receive monetary compensation for this review. I was sent the product free of charge to try. all opinions are 100% my own and not influenced by receiving the product free of charge. Again Thank you Katie.

  1. I feel the same way about peanut butter cups. I didn't get any for halloween this year because I'd eat them all.

  2. Nice work if you can get it! How do I get my hands on some free VitaTops to try? HungryGirl is always raving about the things, and I keep wanting to order some, but never seem to have any extra money after paying bills.
