It Is A Workout

What is a workout for me?
It really has to be fun and not feel too much like exercise. I am so happy I have a Wii Game System because this really helps add activity to my day without feeling like I am “working Out”, though depending on what I am doing it certainly can! For instance the EA Sports Active…well that just completely kicks my butt! In a good way, and it still is fun, which is a pre-requisite to exercise here in this house…for me. :)
I have on my wish list the new EA Sports Active: More Workouts that was just released yesterday. It too looks like to be a “real” workout!  Check out some of the videos over at Amazon about the new features…pretty awesome.

My Wii came as an anniversary gift from Hubs last February, but at that time they were out of the Wii Fit boards, I did get one about a month later and loved it, the stretching, the strengthening, the games. What I did not like was the constant stopping to go an pick another exercise. That my friends is fixed with the new WiiFit Plus! Hubs bought that for me in the beginning of the month and I have found a new love of it all over again! Be sure to stop back by Friday for photos of kids and I “working Out” hard on the Wii Fit Plus as well as a full review of wheat we here think, the pros and cons…all of them.

Away from the Wii I also am trying to add more activity to my day. Having set goals regarding it in the beginning of the week is helping keep the more activity fresh in my mind. I stretched first thing this morning, now I know this is NOT activity people, but what it does do is gets the blood flowing and muscles loose so to just walk is a bit easier. Being this overweight for this long in my life is taking a toll a bit on me, my body and I am aiming to stop that deterioration through my diet and exercise and all the support I can get in real life and via the web.

What about more activity?
When I go shopping(as long as the weather is not too severe) I park at the farthest spot I can. I make extra trips upstairs. When I watch a TV show I get up and walk during the commercials. When I am in the kitchen cooking for any length of time I do squats, counter pushups, glide on the floor in my socks(this actually also cleans my floors as I will use a cloth with cleaner too), pick up heavy cans (or bring in my free weights) walk in place. I thank Carla over at MizFitOnline for some of these great kitchen work out” ideas. She is awesome, really should check her out and her awesome videos if you have not already.
It is now your turn…What things do you do for exercise and adding more activity to your day?

  1. I so want a Wii for Christmas! Please Oh Please! ((crossing fingers))

I'm looking forward to raking the leave this weekend. The kids never do it right and hubby never pulls out the leaf blower, so I'm gonna do it old school style. And it'll be done right! And it's an awesome workout!

  2. I am so impressed with all your added-in workouts during your normal day. I always park far, far away - not just for the extra walking, but to avoid the stress of circling looking for parking. That drives me crazy!

  3. Now I want a Wii..:-) It seems like a fun way to get more movement. I try to do something formal everyday and then do as much extra movement as I can. I started "The 30 Day Shred" this week and it is really hard!

  4. I got the Wii and its FAB, tough too! When I did the workout with my 8 yr old, I wanted to prove I could keep up with him (will never do tht again!), I couldn't walk straight for almost a week LOL To be honest, I haven't gotten on it since, I'm scared of it now!

As for daily exercise, I walk between 1-3 miles a day. I notice I walk farther, when I get someone to join me. The laughing and talking with a friend relieves my stress, while the walking keeps my heart fit. =)
