Fitness Friday: The Wii Fit Plus

fitness-friday-button-new

On November 1st Hubs bought me the New Wii Fit plus to add to my “personal trainers”.

The game now allows you to count how many calories you've burned by using the MET system . It also allows you to set up your own routines based on your goals, and you make a Mii of your babies, cats, or dogs and chart their weight progressions.  We have a few new ways to test our "Wii Fit" age, there are three new yoga exercises, three new strength training exercises, not to mention some pretty cool new games to play as well.

The new games are

  • Bird's-Eye Bulls-Eye
  • Rhythm Parade
  • Island Cycling
  • Balance Bubble Plus
  • Perfect 10
  • Big Top Juggling
  • Segway Circuit
  • Basic Run Plus
  • Tilt City
  • Snowball Fight
  • Table Tilt Plus
  • Rhythm Kung-Fu
  • Obstacle Course
  • Skateboard Arena
  • Driving Range

What do I love?

The way I can make my own routine…do what I want for how long I want…to tailor it to my needs…or at least what I think my needs are. I like how it flows from exercise to exercise. I also like that you can pick a pre-programmed routine that will work on a particular goal instead of making what you “think” you need.

The games on the Wii Fit Plus, in my opinion are awesome. As a Mom that schools her kids at home I happen to really like Perfect 10! To have my kids think quick on their feet, well to me …at their ages now…I could not ask for a better game.

I have not personally tried all of the games…yet. My kids of course have and absolutely have their faves…my absolute fave is that Snowball Fight! Makes me actually want it to snow! Now! And we should already have a little bit laying around…but none so far, been far too warm for that…but maybe…soon.

My 15 year old son has his favorite of…you will never guess…the Skateboard Arena! My 10 year old  daughter says she can’t pick just 1 she loves all of them. Finally my 5 year old son says his favorite is Island cycling. As for Hubs, well we are still trying to get him to join us, not a game fan of any means, but as I said we are still working on him. I am thinking if he sees us getting into much better shape, well he will follow then.

Another new feature I really enjoy is being able to have 2 players. Kids LOVE trying to “beat” Mom…though Mom is getting pretty good at some of these games.

As a side thought about having a Wii system in the house, I love the activeness that comes along with it and any games bought for the system HAVE to be active, that was a stipulation made…by me…who it was actually bought for…so I get to make the rules. :) We have another gaming system in the house for the other stuff…the mindless playing I hate. Good thing it is in another room too…or it may not survive being in this house.

That is my review of the new Wii Fit Plus from a Mom who loves the ability to be active…along with her kids…no matter what time of year it is here in New England. The weather does NOT deter us from having a great time :) As a matter of fact…we LONG for the “bad” weather so as to have an excuse to play inside.

The first time I got on my Wii Fit Plus, I didn't get off it for THREE hours! Within a week, I had every new game unlocked lol. I LOVE how it allows for me to customize my workout and play with friends!

That's it! I'm getting me a Christmas Wii. They should totally pay you commission on this sale.

Awesome review, Trish!!! I love that Perfect Ten game, too! Math and fitness at the same time! And it is actually challenging for me. You'd think, "I can add numbers to ten, easy, of course!" Then you try it with the fitness component and the timing. Definitely helps focus, too!!

I love the Wii Fit. I'm so glad you like it too. Do you have an EA SPORTS Active yet?

I had a Wii and I let my hubby sell it to get a PS3. I am asking for a new one from Santa for Christmas. Thanks for the post!
