Simply An Update ALL Around

This is my first week on simply filling and I feel really good. According to my scale here at the house it is working. I think the hardest part is keeping track of daily requirements, but if that is the hardest well I will take it.

I do have another challenge..that of eating at friends homes, but have overcome that one by talking to them ahead of time and asking what will be served. If it is not something I can easily work in, I simply ask what I can bring and if they mind if I bring part of my own meal because I have a lot of food restrictions right now and that worked great!

Eating out is not a problem...at least not yet, because we do not eat out all that often other than friends homes so when I cross that bridge we will see how I fare.

Success breed success and I want to succeed!
Friday evening I learned a very close friend of the family was in renal failure and taken to the hospital to await to see if he would be able to start kidney dialysis. It was a rough night and agonizing morning yesterday waiting to hear the news. Good news we did receive! His kidneys started to function on their own so one hurdle crossed. He has several other health conditions, aside from cancer, that he has battled this last year and they are now focusing more on that given could be related. SO good with the rest we have been managing and dealing with and hopefully he will come home feeling tons better and agree to having help in home so he can stay better.

Just a bit of an update on MIL…She is in stage 3, there is a 40% chance the cancer will return. Right now she is off all thyroid meds and is preparing for the iodine chemo therapy. Being off the thyroid meds though is taking its toll physically on her and it is hard to see, but that is why we are here…to help…to support…to allow her to lean on us. I made some bread for her because she is on a restrictive iodine diet until this treatment and needs to have most her things home made with specific ingredients and I make bread all the time, so I am really happy I could help in that area. I looked over her guidelines with her diet and am prepared if the need arises to help with meals given they are so ingredient specific. One true blessing is my FIL…he is a chef and is well equipped to cook for her, he will just need to be mindful of the ingredients going in. The next week and a half or so will be quite challenging for Mom and all those that love her as well as the following 2 weeks after her treatment as she will be quarantined for a bit due tot he radiation. Then we all go from there.

That is my updates for the weekend…taking my life one day at a time because to look at anymore would just completely overwhelm me.
Smile! YOU just might make someone's day!

  1. It's so awesome to read about how you support MIL. Not grudgingly, but with sincerity. Not everyone is like that.
