My Dad does not like good bye's and so tried leaving before any of us woke up. Well you have to leave pretty early before I get up seeing I wake with the sun and it is currently 4:54 sun rise here in my part Maine. SO he was already packed and walking his dog when I came downstairs. I tried to convince him to please not leave without saying good bye to the children because they would be crushed. No convincing. SO we said good bye and he left.
Next enter 7am when kids typically get up. The cries and emotions now completely flowing. Thank goodness hubby was off from work and even though he too was hurt, he helped wonderfully.
After the flow of emotions subsides a bit Mom(that would be me here) is emotionally drained and brain fried so I look at hubby and tell him I want out of the house and to go have pancakes.(I know PANCAKES!!?? What the heck was I thinking!!???) SO the loving emotionally supporting hubby he is says OK, let's go.
Here we are finally at the post title "A Great Restaurant"!(I know you were thinking what does this have to with the post title)
There is a small family restaurant here locally that we really enjoy going to now and again but never have for breakfast...until today. Sitting there with my family, enjoying the laughs (instead of cries) I am hearing it occurs to me I want to blog my experience (wanted to do this last night but was wicked tired and drained by the times kids got to bed).
We love the atmosphere and staff at Family Traditions. The very first time we visited we met the owner/chef (Barbara) and she is such an awesome person. That is her there speaking with my youngest a.k.a. Fireman Robbie! She always has come out and made sure we(as well as other patrons) are happy with their meals.Today we enjoyed breakfast. We ordered pancakes, omelets french toast and eggs and bacon. My younger 2 ordered chocolate chip pancake (yes single as they are
the size of a dinner plate!) My oldest ordered a plate of 3 french toast with a side of bacon, hubby ordered the special which was a ham and cheese omelet with toast and coffee (had to have the coffee regardless :) ) I ordered a 2 egg meal with toast, home fries and bacon and yes a pancake! I knew my oldest would still be hungry and I shared part of my meal with him as well as my youngest (the boys never seem to get full!).
My breakfast was all very good (AND so not "diet" friendly!). All my children LOVED their meals and hub
by did too, though thought it was a bit on the salty side. We both figure that was due to the ham and I typically buy a low sodium version of it when I buy it. Other than that he really enjoyed his meal as well. We both enjoyed our coffee. Thereis just something about those commercial coffee makers that help
the coffee taste just that little bit better than what we brew at home.So we LOVE this restaurant, we visit now and again and if you are ever in the Northport Maine area, be sure to stop at Family Traditions. They are right there on Route 1. I am certain you will be happy you did!
